Record producer Peter Asher and the wife Wendy were nearby, close friends of Robin the boy wonder Williams. The two couples (Robin and second wife Marsha Garces) went together often. Should the Beatles “LOVE” shoe opened inside Las Vegas, they joined together. Peter and I had just discussed Robin the boy wonder a couple of weeks ago, along with expressed hope in which Williams was doing far better.
I asked Peter to write down something about The boy wonder. Here it is:
“Robin seemed to be one of the cleverest, most hilarious, most intellectually agile and well-read people it has ever been my privilege to call a good dear friend. But beyond all of these qualities, he was the most ample man I have ever connected with. Materially, emotionally, professionally in addition to personally he hardly ever hesitated to offer help of all kinds to any friend in need of assistance. And he certainly knew what amount we all loved the pup in return.
Yet somehow this information was clearly too little to deflect whatever anguish and demons occasionally beset him. He was man for these scintillating intensity in all he did or maybe dreamed, in every failure or success and in every time of every extraordinary operation. One can only suppose that like creative intensity together with stunning imagination could be as painful as it could be cathartic; as gloomy as it could be miraculous.
We are utterly mortified by what has happened and can only hope that we all discovered from Robin just what true kindness in addition to sincere generosity is capable of C just as he does in a career which changed the world and in a brilliant body of labor from a man involving true genius who can never be forgotten.”
