Go figure. Barbra Streisand and Marty Ehrlichman need to be bathing in Dominic Perignon tonight. “Partners” debuts at the very best on the album index charts with just under 180,000 copies distributed. It’s Barbra’s most important debut ever, conquering her 2017 album “Really like is the Answer” which sold 180,000. Amaze. If “Partners” hits the sweet spot and sells through Christmas, Streisand should go platinum.
“Partners” exceeded most expectations. Over at Hits, they had it in 170-180K. Who knew? Bubbeleh!
As I submitted the other day, Streisand is now really the only artist ever to experience number 1 albums throughout six decades. And all of on the same label– Columbia.
Considering the actual album got so-so assessments, something really journeyed right here. Jimmy Fallon was a big part of it, but considerably had to do with Streisand’s duet picks– Lionel Richie, Billy Franny, Josh Groban, Michael Buble– and timing is important. People are sick of pre-fabricated popular music. Streisand is the real thing.
What performs this mean for Tony a2z Bennett and Lady Gaga? Nutrients. Their “Cheek so that you can Cheek” came out yesterday and is also already number 1 in amazon and in the top 5 on iTunes. With the right push, it will follow Streisand. Aretha Franklin will come immediately following Tony and Stefani, together with do the same thing.
